Obituary of Arthur Napoleon Dufresne

Arthur Napoleon Dufresne, 86, of Brown’s Corners died at the River Hospital in Alexandria Bay after being stricken at home. There will be no funeral or calling hours at this time. A memorial service is planned for a later date in the spring. Arrangements are under the direction of North Country Cremation Service. Mr. Dufresne married his first wife Blanche Paqette in 1948. Their marriage ended in divorce. He then married his current wife Carol E. Radley in 1996. Arthur farmed most of his life in Cornwall, VT, and Potsdam, NY and for a short time in Alaska. He also owned and operated a pool and snowmobile sales and service business. In 1984 he purchased and operated a small service station and grocery called Art’s Service station at Brown’s Corner. He retired from that in 2003. Arthur was an avid sportsman and enjoyed spending time with family and friends and traveling. Arthur is survived by his wife of 18 years, Carol. He is also survived by his first wife Blanche of Orange City, FL, 5 children; Arthur(Sonny) L. Dufresne and his wife Theresa , Orange City, FL, Edward Dufresne, Deland, FL, Ann Stone and her husband Dale of Bridport, VT, Jeanne Pedersen and her husband Robert of Summerville, SC, Kathleen Vancour, Orange City, FL, one step-son, Jordan and daughter-in-law Amanda Ackley-Radley, Lorraine NY. He is survived by an adopted granddaughter Rosemary Collett-Briggs and her husband William of Hobe Sound, FL. He is also survived by several grandchildren, several great grandchild, with one great great grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings; sister Edna Foley, Fairplay, SC, and his brother, Roger Dufresne, Hernando, FL. Several cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his brothers; Armond(died at infancy) and Raymond Dufresne. Donations in Art’s memory may be made to Plessis Fire Department and/or Alexandria Bay Fire Department.
