Obituary of Daniel J. Carter

Funeral services for Daniel J. Carter, 81, of Ogdensburg will be private. Mr. Carter died early Monday morning September 21, 2015 at United Helpers Nursing Home Maplewood Campus in Canton. Arrangements are under the direction of North Country Cremation Service. Daniel J. Carter was born on November 2, 1933 in Ogdensburg, NY. He was the son of the late John J. and Mary (Hess) Carter. He was a 1951 graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and enlisted in the United States Army. After completing his time in the service he married Margaret Stark. Daniel worked for thirty three years at the Massena General Motors Plant, serving many different duties over his three decades of employment. Daniel retired from General Motors in 1988. Daniel was a member of the Ogdensburg AMVETS. He enjoyed sports, especially Horse Racing and the Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, NY. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but more than anything, spending time with his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. Daniel is survived by his son; John Carter and his wife Laurie of Ogdensburg. He is survived by his sisters; Charlotte Casselman of Johnstown, Ontario, Edna Paro of Richville, NY and his brother Charles "Chick" Carter of Ogdensburg. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Laura Carter Bishop, Daniel Carter, Wendy Kennedy, Patrick Kennedy, Nicole Samarco, Trevor Samarco and Jimmy Samarco and eight Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret Carter, his daughter Marie Carter, brothers; Walter Carter, Lawrence “Babe” Carter, Earl “Moose” Carter and his sister Eleanor Cutwa.
