Obituary of Mary Hinckley Gallagher Hamilton

Mary Hinckley Gallagher Hamilton, 85, died in the early morning October 17th, 2015 at her home in Cape Vincent, NY. Born October 6, 1930 a daughter to Theodore and Laura Hinckley. She attended Watertown School of Commerce. Early in her career she worked for WOTT Radio and the NY Telephone Company. She also spent many years working with The American Cancer Society and was the Program Director of Volunteer Services at Good Samaritan. She married Sterling John Gallagher in June,1950. Sterling died November 17,1980. She remarried to David J. Hamilton who passed in 1995. Mary was an avid birder and spent much of her time gardening along with helping others in her local community. She served as Town historian for Cape Vincent, NY. She is survived by four sons, Thomas F. Gallagher, Henderson, NV, Sterling J. Gallagher, Spencerport, NY, Martin L. Gallagher, Cape Vincent, NY and Luke T. Gallagher, San Francisco, CA., her brothers, Norman Hinckley, OH and Michael Hinckley, Black River, NY and a sister, Joyce Hughes, Clayton, NY. and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her husbands she was preceded by her brother, Theodore Hinckley. There will be a Celebration of Life for her in Cape Vincent next July at her home. No donations required.
