Obituary of Hampson D. Platt

GOUVERNEUR, NY- Hampson D. Platt, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown NY. Arrangements are under the direction of North Country Cremation Service. Hampson was born in Cortland on December 28, 1935, the son of Burton Armstrong Platt and Marion Elizabeth Towers. Hampson served in the United States Marine Corps after leaving high school. He married Betty M. Sherman on Jan 03, 1959. Hampson worked at the Smith Corona plant in Groton NY prior to pursuing a career in dairy farming. Hampson and his family moved to the Gouverneur area in 1973 to start a dairy business. He worked on the Platt Dairy Farm until his health declined. Hampson was predeceased by his wife and will be deeply missed by his five children and their spouses - Daniel and Kelly Platt of Homer, NY, Sharon and Jeffrey Sheen, Donald and Doris Platt, Thomas and Stacie Platt, all of Gouverneur, NY , Timothy and Sarah Platt, of Rensselaer Falls, NY , his 13 grandchildren and 6 great- grandchildren.
