Obituary of Janice G. Filley

ADAMS, NY- Janice G. Filley, 81, of Adams N.Y. died at her home on Sunday Dec. 17th, 2017. Daughter of Frederick Osterhout and Henrietta Vanetten, born on 11/30/36 in Auburn City Hospital N.Y.

Arrangements have been entrusted to North Country Cremation Service, owned and operated by Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown, NY.

Janice was a waitress at The Dover Hotel at Emerson Park in Auburn N.Y. She also ran ASPCA in the city of Auburn N.Y. She worked at Sampson Air Base Post exchange in 1954 where she met the love of her life Francis A. Filley. They were married in Waterloo N.Y. on Jan 27th, 1955. They had four daughters, Denise Burkard, Anita Quinta, Diana Filley and Selina (Gordon) Towles. She has 9 grandchildren, Christa Weal, Christine Burkard, Leanore Grant, Kevin Quinta, Jolene Weaver, Rhinannon Filley, Alyssa Filley, Taylor Towles and Frank Towles. She also has 5 great grandchildren, Collin Barber, Jane Grant, Wyatt Weaver, Imara Filley and Arya Grant. Two surviving brothers, Donny Osterhout & Johnny Osterhout, and a surviving sister Sue (John) Babbit, and several nieces and nephews.

Janice enjoyed gardening, sewing and raising veal calves and horses, she made contributing donations of her vegetables from their garden to senior communities. Her life's passion was breeding, raising and training AKC registered Scotties and her prize possession Dobermans for security companies in Florida. She trained her dogs and attended various AKC dog shows all over the state. She clipped & groomed dogs and boarded dogs and cats. She enjoyed the outdoors and her family.
